Since the first time I visited Blossom du Jour and tasted their wonderful vegan fare, I’ve been wanting to go back for Taco Tuesday, a special of three vegan tacos for just 8 dollars. Yesterday, I finally got the chance. I stopped by my local Upper Westside Blossom du Jour and ordered two, one for me and one for my wife. It was a good thing I got there when I did – I had heard that the tacos frequently sell out, and sure enough, by 12:30p, the cafe was already jammed with people ordering the special, and there was a bit of a wait.
The tacos were well worth the wait. Blue corn tortillas, vegan taco crumble, pico de gallo, shredded vegan cheese, and vegan sour cream. All together, making for a quintessential scrumptious hearty taco experience. But a reasonable amount of food, which in today’s world, with our concerns over portion control, is a very good thing. Don’t get me wrong – I was not left hungry after finishing my three tacos, but neither did I have to struggle to finish them. It was just the right amount of food for lunch.
Tuesday is now definitely taco day at my house, and where will I be getting my tacos from, from now on? You guessed it: Blossom du Jour.
